Academics

Greek Life Alumni Council Scholarship The sisters of Alpha Xi Delta are committed to academic achievement.

To become a new member you must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA, you must maintain this during your membership with us. At the University of Southern Maine, the Greek life community prides itself on having a GPA well above the average for students and groups/athletics. Our sisters individually, and our chapter as a whole, are in the top when it comes to this academic success. Many of our sisters make the Dean's list individually. We encourage good grades and studying by holding a points system within our chapter where sisters will send in good grades they have received on tests and assignments. This gives our sisters a sense of accountability. On top of holding a points system, we also book study rooms and encourage our sister to spend time in the library or coffee shops together! Our sisters are majoring in a wide variety of academic departments, so there is always someone ready to form a study group to help out one another. We reward academic achievements in a wide variety of ways including social media recognition, chapter announcements, and small gifts and treats. In addition to our chapter’s efforts, the Office of Greek Life requires all chapters to engage in the “Performance and Excellence” program. This keeps all chapters on track academically and awards points for study hours logged, GPA’s, volunteer work was done among many other things. As a member of Alpha Xi Delta, we promise to help you be the best that you can be in all aspects of your life, especially in the classroom.
